One feature many users like me wanted is the ability to go to next unread message in gmail after deleting or archiving an email. Generally after you delete or archive an email you go back to inbox by default in Gmail. A new lab feature Auto-Advance will help you change that.
Tip : 100 Amazing Gmail Hacks, Tricks for Email Productivity
Step 1 : Login to Gmail and Go to Settings. Click on the "Labs" tab.
Step 2 : In the "Labs" there are numerous gmail lab features you can use. Look for Auto-Advance. Toggle "Enable" and scroll down, click "Save Changes".
Step 3 : To change to "go to next unread message after delete or archive" go to settings once again but now under "General" tab look for Auto-Advance options.
Toggle select "Go to the next (newer) conversation" to automatically go to next unread message in Gmail after deleting or archiving an email.
Step 4 : Scroll down and click "Save Changes". Done !!
You if get lot of email this will help you to quickly read through them with lesser clicks.

Auto Advance [Gmail Labs] – Go to Next Unread Message Quickly
